This article describes how to use the “Insert as Picture-Field”-functionality within the “Insert”-button in Open Office XML templates (.docx).

This certain feature allows you to:
a) insert a picture that is stored in your CRM system or
b) a path to a FileShare.

HOW TO: Prepare your CRM
To use the Insert as Picture-Field-functionality, we first have to prepare our CRM-entry and insert the picture.
There are two ways to do so.
a) Store a picture in your CRM-system
Open the entity for which you want to add the picture for and upload the picture.
In our example, we insert the picture as a note.
b) Store a path to a fileshare in your CRM-system
To do so, simply type in the path to the fileshare you want to store (in any prefered CRM-field).
In our example we have stored the path to the fileshare in the Description-field.
HOW TO: Insert as picture-field (picture stored as note)
If you have stored a picture as a note to your CRM previously, you have to resolve an additional relationship to the Note entity.
To do so, please open a Word document, go to the www.mscrm-addons.com-tab, click on Insert MailMerge Fields and answer the question with a
click on the [Yes]-button.

Next, the DocumentsCorePack TemplateDesigner appears on the right sight of your document.
Click on the Additional-tab and then on New Relationship/Entity.

In the so opened window click on the drop-down-button and check Note. Click on the [OK]-button.
The next screenshot shows the new added entity:

HOW TO: Insert as picture-field (picture saved as path of the fileshare)
If you have previously stored the path of the fileshare, open a template or create a new one.
Click on Insert MailMerge Fields to get to the DocumentsCorePack – Template Designer and select a field to be inserted.
In our case this is Description. Click once on it so that it is highlighted in blue.

Now click on the arrow next to the [Insert]-button and select the Insert as Picture-Field option.
Now, a placeholder-picture appears in your document.

As you can see in the screenshot below, if you merge this template, DocumentsCorePack resolves the path to your picture and inserts it into the document.
