Afterwards we are using our DocumentsCorePack custom connector to create an email body from a DCP Template and attach it to the email. Then we create an email attachment and attach it to the same email. The last step finally sends the email.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;"> <div class=" data-plugin-options="> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <a title=" Overview of the Flow " href="/Portals/0/Blog/How_to_create_doc_u_email_body_attach_to_email_u_send_using_custom_connector/Figure1.jpg"> <img alt=" Overview of the Flow " width="40%" class="img-responsive" src="/Portals/0/Blog/How_to_create_doc_u_email_body_attach_to_email_u_send_using_custom_connector/Figure1.jpg" /> </a> </div> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <em>Figure 1: Overview of the Flow </em> </div> </div> </span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;"><span style="color: #0077b3;">1.&nbsp;Trigger</span><br /> <br /> When you create a new flow, you have to decide which action will trigger the flow. Create Email</span><br /> <br /> In the second step we create an Email Message, you can leave the sender, recipient and regarding empty for now, as our DocumentsCorePack custom connector offers a very easy way to fill them later. You can still already fill the Subject and Description to your liking.&nbsp;<br /> &nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;">&nbsp; <div class=" data-plugin-options="> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <a title=" Create Email " href="/Portals/0/Blog/How_to_create_doc_u_email_body_attach_to_email_u_send_using_custom_connector/Figure3.jpg"> <img alt=" Create Email " width="40%" class="img-responsive" src="/Portals/0/Blog/How_to_create_doc_u_email_body_attach_to_email_u_send_using_custom_connector/Figure3.jpg" /> </a> </div> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <em>Figure 3: Create Email </em> </div> </div> </span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;"><span style="color: #0077b3;">3. Create Email Body</span><br /> <br /> To create the Email Body, we are using the DocumentsCorePack custom connector and choose the step &ldquo;Create Document Job (sync)&rdquo;. In this step it is mandatory to specify a template which shall be used to create the email body, and an Entity ID with which the Template shall be merged. (NOTE: The template needs to be created for the Entity Type specified in the Email ID) To create the Email Body we must choose the Filetype &ldquo;HTML&rdquo;.<br /> &nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;"> <div class=" data-plugin-options="> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <a title=" Create Email Body " href="/Portals/0/Blog/How_to_create_doc_u_email_body_attach_to_email_u_send_using_custom_connector/Figure4.jpg"> <img alt=" Create Email Body " width="40%" class="img-responsive" src="/Portals/0/Blog/How_to_create_doc_u_email_body_attach_to_email_u_send_using_custom_connector/Figure4.jpg" /> </a> </div> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <em>Figure 4: Create Email Body </em> </div> </div> </span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;"><span style="color: #0077b3;">4. Attach Email Body&nbsp;</span><br /> <br /> After creating the Email Body, we need to attach it to the Email. For this we select the Document that was created in the previous Create Email Body step, this can be found under &ldquo;Document (Base 64 Encoded)&rdquo;. We also take the Filename from the previous step and the Email Message from the Create Email step.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;"> <div class=" data-plugin-options="> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <a title=" Attach Email Body " href="/Portals/0/Blog/How_to_create_doc_u_email_body_attach_to_email_u_send_using_custom_connector/Figure5.jpg"> <img alt=" Attach Email Body " width="40%" class="img-responsive" src="/Portals/0/Blog/How_to_create_doc_u_email_body_attach_to_email_u_send_using_custom_connector/Figure5.jpg" /> </a> </div> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <em>Figure 5: Attach Email Body </em> </div> </div> </span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;">Here you can see what the &ldquo;Document (Base 64 Encoded)&rdquo; looks like:<br /> &nbsp;</span></p> <div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;"> <div class=" data-plugin-options="> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <a title=" Document (Base 64 Encoded)" href="/Portals/0/Blog/How_to_create_doc_u_email_body_attach_to_email_u_send_using_custom_connector/Figure6.jpg"> <img alt=" Document (Base 64 Encoded)" width="40%" class="img-responsive" src="/Portals/0/Blog/How_to_create_doc_u_email_body_attach_to_email_u_send_using_custom_connector/Figure6.jpg" /> </a> </div> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <em>Figure 6: Document (Base 64 Encoded)</em> </div> </div> </span> <p>&nbsp;</p> </div> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;"><br /> </span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;"><span style="color: #0077b3;">5. Create Attachment</span><br /> <br /> In this step we want to create an additional attachment that shall be attached to the final email.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Again, we have to choose a Template, an Entity ID and an output FileType. As we want an attachment this time we are choosing &ldquo;PDF&rdquo;:</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;"><br /> </span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;"> <div class=" data-plugin-options="> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <a title=" Create Attachment " href="/Portals/0/Blog/How_to_create_doc_u_email_body_attach_to_email_u_send_using_custom_connector/Figure7.jpg"> <img alt=" Create Attachment " width="40%" class="img-responsive" src="/Portals/0/Blog/How_to_create_doc_u_email_body_attach_to_email_u_send_using_custom_connector/Figure7.jpg" /> </a> </div> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <em>Figure 7: Create Attachment </em> </div> </div> </span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;"><br /> </span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;"><span style="color: #0077b3;">6. Attach Email Attachment</span><br /> <br /> Again, we have to attach the created document to the email. This time we select the &ldquo;Document (Base 64 Encoded)&rdquo; and the Filename from the Create Attachment Step.&nbsp; Additionally, we also need to fill Email ID with the &ldquo;Email Message&rdquo; from the &ldquo;Create Email &ldquo;Step.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;"><br /> </span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;"> <div class=" data-plugin-options="> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <a title=" Attach Email Attachment " href="/Portals/0/Blog/How_to_create_doc_u_email_body_attach_to_email_u_send_using_custom_connector/Figure8.jpg"> <img alt=" Attach Email Attachment " width="40%" class="img-responsive" src="/Portals/0/Blog/How_to_create_doc_u_email_body_attach_to_email_u_send_using_custom_connector/Figure8.jpg" /> </a> </div> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <em>Figure 8: Attach Email Attachment </em> </div> </div> </span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;"><br /> </span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;"><span style="color: #0077b3;">7. Send Email</span><br /> <br /> Now that the Email Body and Email Attachment are attached to our Email, we want to finally send the email. For the &ldquo;Email To Send&rdquo; we choose the &ldquo;Email Message&rdquo; from the Create Email step.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Based on the trigger you have chosen you can either use the &ldquo;Owner&rdquo; or &ldquo;Modified By&rdquo; user to get the current user, if you have a trigger that allows it you can also get the current user using the &ldquo;User ID&rdquo; from the dynamic values. This user can be specified as the sender of the email. For Sender (Schema name) we choose the Entity Type &ldquo;User&rdquo;.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Now we also have an option to specify the &ldquo;Regarding&rdquo; of the Email, for this we used the Regarding (Id) &ldquo;Account&rdquo; and the Regarding (Schema Name) Entity Type &ldquo;Account&rdquo;.&nbsp;<br /> For the To-Recipient we have chosen the To-ID &ldquo;Primary Contact&rdquo; and the To-Schema name Entity Type &ldquo;Contact&rdquo;.<br /> </span> <div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;">&nbsp;</span></div> </p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;">&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;"><strong><span style="color: red;">In Short:</span></strong><span style="color: red;"> </span>It is important that the &ldquo;Schema name&rdquo; points to the Entity Type of the ID that is specified. </span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;"><br /> </span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;"> <div class=" data-plugin-options="> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <a title=" Send Email " href="/Portals/0/Blog/How_to_create_doc_u_email_body_attach_to_email_u_send_using_custom_connector/Figure9.jpg"> <img alt=" Send Email " width="40%" class="img-responsive" src="/Portals/0/Blog/How_to_create_doc_u_email_body_attach_to_email_u_send_using_custom_connector/Figure9.jpg" /> </a> </div> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <em>Figure 9: Send Email </em> </div> </div> </span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong><span style="color: #000000;">That&rsquo;s it!</span></strong><span style="background: white; color: black;"> We appreciate your feedback! In this blog, we will present and showcase how DocumentsCorePack allows us to generate and process documents within Power Automate (Microsoft Flow).</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 18px; color: #0077b3;">How it works:</span></strong><br /> When using DocumentsCorePack every document that has to be generated is defined by a record of an entity called &ldquo;AutoMergeWorkingItem&rdquo;. This record holds all mandatory definitions to generate the document:&nbsp;</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>1. Record to use:&nbsp;</strong>&nbsp;What record should the document be generated for (e.g. account, quote, etc.)<br /> <strong>2. Template to execute:</strong> &nbsp;Defines the DocumentsCorePack template that should be used to generate the document.<br /> <strong>3. Output format: </strong>The Filetype the document should be generated and returned as Pdf, docx, Html.&nbsp;<br /> <strong>4. (Optional) Processing settings:</strong> This is not a necessity but DocumentsCorePack allows to not just generate a document but also process the document by definitions on the AutoMerkeWorkingItem record (e.g. Print, Save to SharePoint, Send for e-Signing, etc.).&nbsp;</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Once such an AutoMergeWorkingItem is created, the DocumentsCorePack service will generate the document and deliver it back as an attachment to this record. It becomes clear that in order to generate a document within Flow the only thing that needs to be done is to <strong>&ldquo;Create an AutoMergeWorking Item Record&rdquo;</strong>. </p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Note: </strong>The mandatory parameters required can be brought into flow in various ways. E.g. you could build a Canvas App that passes the parameters to the Flow or you can simply use the Common Data Service or Dynamics 365 connectors within Flow to load them (see figure below).</p> <div class=" data-plugin-options="> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <a title="Document generation request schema of DocumentsCorePack " href="/Portals/0/Blog/StepByStep_How_to_generate_documents_in_Microsoft_Flow/Figure1.png"> <img alt="Document generation request schema of DocumentsCorePack" width="544" height="265" class="img-responsive" src="/Portals/0/Blog/StepByStep_How_to_generate_documents_in_Microsoft_Flow/Figure1.png" /> </a></div> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"><em>Figure 1: Document generation request&nbsp;schema of DocumentsCorePack</em></div> </div> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong><span style="font-size: 18px; color: #0077b3;">Step-by-Step: Create an AutoMergeWorkingItem in Power Automate (Microsoft Flow)<br /> </span></strong>Now that we know what is needed: Let&rsquo;s take a look at how such a document generation request has to look like. </p> <p>Our use case is to generate a quote document in PDF &ndash; format upon activation of the quote. </p> <p><strong>Note: </strong>In our scenario, we are using the common data service connector. Especially with the October 2019 update for the &ldquo;Common Data Service (current environment)&rdquo; it became a lot easier to do certain things like creating records. I want to emphasize though that it's of course also possible to use the Dynamics 365 connector.<strong><span style="font-size: 18px; color: #0077b3;"><br /> </span></strong></p> <p><strong>1. The Trigger of the flow:</strong> In our scenario, the flow is defined to trigger a change of the status field of the quote entity as follows:</p> <div class=" data-plugin-options="> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <a title="The Trigger of the flow" href="/Portals/0/Blog/StepByStep_How_to_generate_documents_in_Microsoft_Flow/Figure2.png"> <img alt="The Trigger of the flow" width="316" height="154,5" class="img-responsive" src="/Portals/0/Blog/StepByStep_How_to_generate_documents_in_Microsoft_Flow/Figure2.png" /> </a></div> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"><em>Figure 2: The Trigger of the flow</em></div> </div> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>What&rsquo;s important:</strong> We will need the context of this step as it defines the record our document needs to pull the data from. So we have the first required parameter: The record to use! </p> <p><strong>2. Get Template to execute:</strong> Here we use the Common Data Service- 'Get Record' action to load our template. Since we always want to use the same quote-template we make it simple and &ldquo;hardcode&rdquo; our template.&nbsp;</p> <div class=" data-plugin-options="> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <a title="Get template to execute" href="/Portals/0/Blog/StepByStep_How_to_generate_documents_in_Microsoft_Flow/Figure3.png"> <img alt="Get template to execute" width="317" height="88,5" class="img-responsive" src="/Portals/0/Blog/StepByStep_How_to_generate_documents_in_Microsoft_Flow/Figure3.png" /> </a></div> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"><em>Figure 3: Get template to execute</em></div> <p class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"><em></em></p> </div> <p>So what do we have here? Where does this GUID in the item identifier come from? To answer this we have to know that every template designed with the DocumentsCorePack Template Designer is stored as a record of the &ldquo;mscrm-addons.com DocumentsCorePack Template&rdquo; entity. As can be seen on the screenshot this is the entity we are getting a record of.</p> <p>You can e.g. open the template record you want to use and copy the GUID from the URL as you can see below.&nbsp;</p> <div class=" data-plugin-options="> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <a title="Open template record" href="/Portals/0/Blog/StepByStep_How_to_generate_documents_in_Microsoft_Flow/Figure4.png"> <img alt="Open template record" width="650,5" height="208,5" class="img-responsive" src="/Portals/0/Blog/StepByStep_How_to_generate_documents_in_Microsoft_Flow/Figure4.png" /> </a></div> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"><em>Figure 4: Open template record</em></div> </div> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>To summarize:</strong>&nbsp;This 'Get Record' step will provide us with the second parameter: The template to use! As we also know that our output format should be PDF we are all set to finally define our document generation request!&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>3. Create AutoMergeWorking Item: </strong>As all parameters are now clear we can use the Common Data Service &ndash; Create Record action to create our document generation request as follows:&nbsp;</p> <div class=" data-plugin-options="> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <a title="Create AutoMergeWorking Item" href="/Portals/0/Blog/StepByStep_How_to_generate_documents_in_Microsoft_Flow/Figure5.png"> <img alt="Create AutoMergeWorking Item" width="420" height="168" class="img-responsive" src="/Portals/0/Blog/StepByStep_How_to_generate_documents_in_Microsoft_Flow/Figure5.png" /> </a></div> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"><em>Figure 5: Create AutoMergeWorking Item</em></div> </div> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>We create a record of the Entity &ldquo;MSCRM-ADDONS.COM AutoMergeWorkingItem&rdquo; and choose the Action to be &ldquo;Create Document&rdquo;. We can also give it a name that is quite handy to maybe later identify and review the documents generated via this Flow. Now we need to set our parameters: </p> <p>a. Record to pull data from (PrimaryRecordUrl):</p> <div class=" data-plugin-options="> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <a title="Record to pull data from (PrimaryRecordUrl)" href="/Portals/0/Blog/StepByStep_How_to_generate_documents_in_Microsoft_Flow/Figure6.png"> <img alt="Record to pull data from (PrimaryRecordUrl)" width="470,5" height="65,5" class="img-responsive" src="/Portals/0/Blog/StepByStep_How_to_generate_documents_in_Microsoft_Flow/Figure6.png" /> </a></div> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"><em>Figure 6: Record to pull data from (PrimaryRecordUrl)</em></div> </div> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>This is kind of challenging at this point. We did copy the URL of a quote we opened in Dynamics and replaced it with the &ldquo;Quote&rdquo;-parameter (Unique identifier of the quote from our Flow-Trigger action).&nbsp;</p> <p>b. Template to Execute (TemplateToExecute):</p> <div class=" data-plugin-options="> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <a title="Template to Execute (TemplateToExecute)" href="/Portals/0/Blog/StepByStep_How_to_generate_documents_in_Microsoft_Flow/Figure7.png"> <img alt="Template to Execute (TemplateToExecute)" width="479" height="26" class="img-responsive" src="/Portals/0/Blog/StepByStep_How_to_generate_documents_in_Microsoft_Flow/Figure7.png" /> </a></div> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"><em>Figure 7: Template to Execute (TemplateToExecute)</em></div> </div> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Here we reference the Unique Identifier parameter of our &ldquo;Get Record&rdquo; step where we did load the template above.&nbsp;</p> <p>c. FileType (SaveAs Value): This is a simple one &ndash; we simply select &ldquo;PDF&rdquo; from our picklist.&nbsp;</p> <div class=" data-plugin-options="> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <a title="FileType (SaveAs Value)" href="/Portals/0/Blog/StepByStep_How_to_generate_documents_in_Microsoft_Flow/Figure8.png"> <img alt="FileType (SaveAs Value)" width="512,5" height="27" class="img-responsive" src="/Portals/0/Blog/StepByStep_How_to_generate_documents_in_Microsoft_Flow/Figure8.png" /> </a></div> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"><em>Figure 8: FileType (SaveAs Value)</em></div> </div> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>And that&rsquo;s it!</strong> We did it. So every time a quote gets activated we will now get a document generated.</p> <p><strong>Next steps: </strong>Naturally you want to do something with the document once generated. As outlined above you can either use the AutoMergeWorkingItem to process the document but you can also process the document within your flow. The generated document can be found on the AutoMergeWorkingItem record -&gt; Created Document section. </p> <p><strong>&nbsp;Note</strong>: This field will be filled when DocumentsCorePack successfully created the document. You will have to wait for the AutoMergeWorkingItem record to become &ldquo;inactive&rdquo;. This tells you that the document is ready.&nbsp;</p> <div class=" data-plugin-options="> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <a title="AutoMergeWorkingItem information: Inactive status" href="/Portals/0/Blog/StepByStep_How_to_generate_documents_in_Microsoft_Flow/Figure9.png"> <img alt="AutoMergeWorkingItem information: Inactive status" width="647,5" height="445" class="img-responsive" src="/Portals/0/Blog/StepByStep_How_to_generate_documents_in_Microsoft_Flow/Figure9.png" /> </a></div> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"><em>Figure 9: AutoMergeWorkingItem information: Inactive status</em></div> </div> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="background-color: #fcfcfc; text-align: justify;">&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 13px;"><span style="background-color: #fcfcfc; text-align: justify;"><strong>That's it!</strong></span><span style="background-color: #fcfcfc; text-align: justify;">&nbsp; We appreciate your feedback! To begin with, we would like to thank you for giving us your precious time and attention! It was a great pleasure meeting you at our booth!</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">This event focused on the development of business applications and the important concept of enterprise digital transformation. A successful business enterprise in 2019 must transform itself from old analog and on-premise <span style="text-align: justify;">technologies&nbsp;</span>to digital and cloud-based technologies. This summit explained how to accomplish that task. Every session and workshop was filled with demos, hints and hacks to help you ramp up your skills and transform your business. There were plenty of learning opportunties featuring a range of tools and topics for all levels of expertise. Visionary leaders presented exclusive looks at the latest trends and product roadmaps.&nbsp;</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">It was the perfect place for Dynamics 365, Power BI, Excel, PowerApps and Flow users to connect, collaborate and pack in as much learning as possible. <span style="background-color: #fcfcfc;">Our team&nbsp;was overwhelmed by the big interest&nbsp;in&nbsp;our products and booth! All our team members enjoyed presenting the visitors&nbsp;<span style="background-color: #fcfcfc;">how our addons can simplify the daily business.</span></span></p> <div class=" data-plugin-options="> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}" style="text-align: justify;"> <a title="Our team at Microsoft Business Applications Summit 2019 " href="/Portals/0/Blog/Business_Applications_Summit_Atlanta_2019/mscrmaddons_team.jpeg"> <img alt="Our team at Microsoft Business Applications Summit 2019" class="img-responsive" src="/Portals/0/Blog/Business_Applications_Summit_Atlanta_2019/mscrmaddons_team.jpeg" width="800" height="600" style="text-align: center;" /> </a></div> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}" style="text-align: center;"><em>Our team at Microsoft Business Applications Summit 2019</em></div> <p class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}" style="text-align: center;"><em></em></p> </div> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="background-color: #fcfcfc;"><span style="background-color: #fcfcfc; text-align: justify;">All in all, the event was a complete success for partners and customers. B</span><span style="background-color: #fcfcfc; text-align: justify;">eing part of this event was a great and really very special experience!&nbsp;<span style="background-color: #fcfcfc; text-align: justify;"></span><span style="background-color: #fcfcfc; text-align: justify;">Thank you again for your interest in our products. When DocumentsCorePack has processed an AutoMergeWorkingItem, it sets the status to inactive.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">To delay the workflow wait conditions inside, workflows have been set up to wait for this change. So the following steps could already work with the document and send it to DocuSign for example. Unfortunately recently it occurred more often that those wait conditions can cause the system job to get stuck at that point.&nbsp;</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">One solution to continue those system jobs is to change the status of the AutoMergeWorkingItem to active and back to inactive. To avoid this issue in the beginning you can also change the wait condition (see figure 1 highlighted in yellow).</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">DocumentsCorePack service is setting the ReturnValue after completing the AutoMergeWorkingItem to the name of the server where it is running. So instead of checking for the state inactive, please check if the ReturnValue starts with [servername of the service].</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">If you are using DocumentsCorePack online service, the server name you have to check is &ldquo;AUTOMERGE&rdquo;. For On-Premise services please use the server name where the DocumentsCorePack service is configured.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Example for DocumentsCorePack online:</p> <div class=" data-plugin-options=" style="text-align: justify;"> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <a title="DocumentsCorePack Wait Condition" href="/Portals/0/Blog/Fix_for-wait_condition_stuck/Figure1.png"> <img alt="DocumentsCorePack Wait Condition" width="621,5" height="360,5" class="img-responsive" src="/Portals/0/Blog/Fix_for-wait_condition_stuck/Figure1.png" /> </a></div> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"><em>Figure 1:DocumentsCorePack Wait Condition</em></div> </div> <p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 13px;"><strong><span style="background-color: #fcfcfc; text-align: justify;">That&rsquo;s it!</span></strong><span style="background-color: #fcfcfc; text-align: justify;"><strong>&nbsp;</strong>We appreciate your feedback! The counting mechanism varies depending on the type of license being used. We differentiate here between two types of licenses &ndash; the Normal licenses and the TeamMember licenses. Below &nbsp;are the two different license types and a description of how the count works for each. You will also find a description on where to find information about your counted licenses.&nbsp;</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="text-align: justify;"></span><span style="color: #0077b3;"><span style="font-size: 24px;">❶ </span><span style="font-size: 18px;">Normal licenses</span></span><span style="font-size: 18px;">&nbsp;</span><br /> <span style="text-align: justify;">For the required licenses, all users that are activated and have as Access Mode &ldquo;Read-Write&rdquo; in Dynamics 365, are counted.</span><span style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp; </span><span style="text-align: justify;">Users with &ldquo;Administrative&rdquo; as Access Mode are not counted.</span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;">There is the possibility to count only users with a security role for licensing. <strong>Important:</strong> We are counting user licensing assigned to the user directly or via team membership. We had such a great time last week at eXtreme365 and User Group Summit in<span style="text-align: justify;"> Amsterdam</span>. Thank you for joining us! It was a pleasure for us to be part of such a great experience and to meet old and also new business partners and customers.&nbsp;</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The week started with extreme365 with a lot of great content from Microsoft and partners. It was a high-energy event where we could gain a deep-dive understanding of Microsoft&acute;s roadmap, expert community insight on overcoming real-world challenges and exceptional relationship&nbsp;building.&nbsp;<span style="background-color: #fcfcfc; text-align: justify;">The atmosphere at eXtreme365 was perfect, which was due to&nbsp;the excellent speakers and truly informative sessions. The event was amazing&nbsp;and full of great people.</span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Followed by User Group Summit with crowds of people, great exhibitors and a lot of new contacts and customer meetings.&nbsp;<span style="background-color: #fcfcfc; text-align: justify;">Amazing keynote speakers, small group sessions, gripping speeches and lots of networking opportunities converted this event into a Microsoft Dynamics 365 festival. All in one we had great sessions and learned great Dynamics people!&nbsp;</span></p> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}">&nbsp;</div> <div style="padding-right: 10px; text-align: center;" class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': true}, 'mainClass': 'mfp-with-zoom'}"> <p style="text-align: center;"> <a title="eXtreme365 - photo gallery" href="http://www.mscrm-addons.com/Portals/0/Blog/Amsterdam_eXtreme365_Summit/Figure1.png"><img alt="eXtreme365 &amp; UG Summit - photo gallery" src="http://www.mscrm-addons.com/Portals/0/Blog/Amsterdam_eXtreme365_Summit/Figure1.png" style="text-align: center;" /></a> <a title="Exploring Amsterdam by bike" href="http://www.mscrm-addons.com/Portals/0/Blog/Amsterdam_eXtreme365_Summit/Figure2_mscrmaddons_team_on_tour.jpeg"></a> <a title="Crowded room at our showcase at eXtreme365" href="http://www.mscrm-addons.com/Portals/0/Blog/Amsterdam_eXtreme365_Summit/Figure3_Crowded_room_extreme.jpeg"></a> <a title="Beautiful Amsterdam" href="http://www.mscrm-addons.com/Portals/0/Blog/Amsterdam_eXtreme365_Summit/Figure4_Beautiful_Amsterdam.jpeg"></a> <a title="Our booth" href="http://www.mscrm-addons.com/Portals/0/Blog/Amsterdam_eXtreme365_Summit/Figure5_our_booth.jpeg"></a> <a title="Amsterdam" href="http://www.mscrm-addons.com/Portals/0/Blog/Amsterdam_eXtreme365_Summit/Figure6_Amsterdam.jpeg"></a> <a title="Our booth at UG Summit" href="http://www.mscrm-addons.com/Portals/0/Blog/Amsterdam_eXtreme365_Summit/Figure7_booth_summit.jpeg"></a> <a title="Full house at our showcase at UG Summit" href="http://www.mscrm-addons.com/Portals/0/Blog/Amsterdam_eXtreme365_Summit/Figure8_full_house_summit.jpeg"></a> <a title="The mscrm-addons team says thank you" href="http://www.mscrm-addons.com/Portals/0/Blog/Amsterdam_eXtreme365_Summit/Figure9_team.jpeg"></a></p> </div> <p style="text-align: center;">eXtreme365 &amp; UG Summit - photo gallery</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="background-color: #fcfcfc;">Also, we had the chance to showcase "Professional documents in Dynamics 365 for&nbsp;customer engagement PowerApps &amp; Flow" live in front of a responsive audience. Michael Dohr outlined excellently how&nbsp;to&nbsp;standardize, simplify and automate&nbsp;your&nbsp;document&nbsp;processes&nbsp;with&nbsp;DocumentsCorePack. If you have not <span style="text-align: justify;">customized&nbsp;</span>the DCP button manually you will not have any problems.</p> <p style="text-align: justify; margin-bottom: 0pt;">But if you have modified the <strong>[Create Document]</strong>-button (e.g. via RibbonWorkBench) you will get the above errors.</p> <p style="text-align: justify; margin-bottom: 0pt;">The reason for that is that due to your custom change a copy of the old XML structure has been created (e.g. in order to add custom display rules to the button) and the update fails because a reference to the old XML structure exists.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>How to solve it<br /> </strong>First, find out for which entities changes were made (you can skip this step if you know which entities are affected):<strong><br /> </strong></p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">To do so open the dependency dialog for the &ldquo;AutoMergeGlobalButton&rdquo; solution as described in this <a href="https://www.mscrm-addons.com/Blog/PostId/9881/how-to-remove-dependencies-when-deleting-a-solution-manually-in-crm">blog article</a>.</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">[YOUR CRM URL]/tools/dependency/dependencyviewdialog.aspx?objectid=[GUID OF AMGLOBALBUTTON SOLUTION]&amp;objecttype=7100&amp;operationtype=dependenciesforuninstall</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">In this example the changes were only&nbsp;<span>made&nbsp;</span><span>for the quote entity&nbsp;</span>(Just entities depended on the &ldquo;Application Ribbons&rdquo; are relevant):</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">&nbsp;</p> <div class=" data-plugin-options="> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <a title="Relevant entities in this example " href="/Portals/0/Blog/DCP_Solution_update_error_AutoMergeGlobalButton/Figure2.png"> <img width="756" height="136" class="img-responsive" alt="Relevant entities in this example" src="/Portals/0/Blog/DCP_Solution_update_error_AutoMergeGlobalButton/Figure2.png" /> </a></div> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"><em>Figure 2: Relevant entities in this example</em></div> </div> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">Next, check the changes for these entities. In this case for the quote entity. This can be done via a manual solution export of the entity ribbon or via the RibbonWorkBench. In this example, we use <g class="gr_ gr_90 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar only-del replaceWithoutSep" id="90" data-gr-id="90">the RibbonWorkBench</g>. When we open it for the quote entity, it shows the following changes:</p> <div class=" data-plugin-options="> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"> <a title="Entity changes via the RibbonWorkBench " href="/Portals/0/Blog/DCP_Solution_update_error_AutoMergeGlobalButton/Figure3.png"> <img width="267" height="332" class="img-responsive" alt="Entity changes via the RibbonWorkBench" src="/Portals/0/Blog/DCP_Solution_update_error_AutoMergeGlobalButton/Figure3.png" /> </a></div> <div class="lightbox" data-plugin-options="{'delegate': 'a', 'type': 'image', 'gallery': {'enabled': false}}"><em>Figure 3: Entity changes via the RibbonWorkBench</em></div> </div> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">It is recommended to create a backup of the Ribbon XML first.</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">Then remove all elements which are related to the <strong>[Create Document]</strong>-button. The IDs of all of them start with &ldquo;MSCRMADDONS&rdquo; (see highlighted above). This can be done by right-clicking -&gt; Delete.</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">In <g class="gr_ gr_73 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation only-ins replaceWithoutSep" id="73" data-gr-id="73">detail</g> this means that you remove your custom changes which have been made on the MSCRM-<g class="gr_ gr_71 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del" id="71" data-gr-id="71">ADDONS</g> ribbon elements. Once done the button is reset to the out of the box behavior.</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">After publishing these changes the problem should be solved.</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;"><strong>Please note:</strong> It could also be possible that this change has been made on Organization1 and has been migrated to Organization2 via a managed solution. In this case, this has to be changed or removed in that migration solution.</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;"><strong>Problems in Dynamics 365 Online version 9.1: </strong>We have noticed the no buttons which were added via the RibbonWorkBench or via any other unmanaged way cannot be undone.</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">It behaves like follows: You remove the ribbon elements via the RibbonWorkBench and publish it. Everything seems fine, but when you reload the RibbonWorkBench you notice that all elements are here again.</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">This is a global CRM problem and happens for CRM default buttons as well.</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">Please contact Microsoft support to fix this.</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;"><strong><span>For Service Activity</span></strong></p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">If this happens on a &ldquo;Service Activity&rdquo; record and you have the &ldquo;AutoMergeGlobalButtonExtension&rdquo; solution version 2015.2 or lower installed, please update to the 2015.3 version.</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">Download the solution via this link:&nbsp; <span style="color: red;"><a href="https://www.mscrm-addons.com/Portals/0/Blog/AutoMergeGlobalButtonExtention/AutoMergeGlobalButtonExtension.zip?ver=2019-04-15-081043-413">DownLoadLinkToSolutionInTheFolder</a></span></p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">Open Dynamics 365 -&gt; Settings -&gt; Solutions -&gt; hit &ldquo;Import&rdquo; -&gt; select the zip solution file and follow the wizard.</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;"><strong><span>Still not working</span></strong></p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">If you followed the above steps but the update does still not work, please send us the following information:</p> <ul> <li style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">Error Message of Install/Update process</li> <li style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">CRM Version (Dynamics 356 -&gt; Settings wheel -&gt; About)</li> <li style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">Unique organization name: <span><a href="https://www.mscrm-addons.com/Blog/PostId/9981/unique-organization-name-in-microsoft-dynamics-365">https://www.mscrm-addons.com/Blog/PostId/9981/unique-organization-name-in-microsoft-dynamics-365</a></span></li> <li style="margin-bottom: 0pt;"><span><a href="https://www.mscrm-addons.com/Blog/PostId/9981/unique-organization-name-in-microsoft-dynamics-365"></a></span>A screenshot of the dependency dialog for the &ldquo;AutoMergeGlobalButton&rdquo; solution (as described above)</li> <li style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">A screenshot of the included elements of the RibbonWorkBench of affected entities (or the &lt;RibbonDiffXml&gt;)</li> </ul> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;"></p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0pt;">&nbsp;</p> <p style="background-color: #fcfcfc;"><span style="font-size: 13px;"><strong>That&rsquo;s it!</strong>&nbsp;We appreciate your feedback!
