How to upgrade your DocumentsCorePack Online Service license?

The minute your DocumentsCorePack (DCP) license is invalid, it is recommended to check your license status and to react properly. This article outlines

how to view the license state of your service and
how to upgrade your license online.

A) How to view the license state of your DCP Online Service?

1) Follow the below link and enter your username and password.

2) Once registered, click on the [My Account]-button in the right upper corner.

3) Now click on the my cloud services-section in order to get an overview on your subscriptions.

4) You are redirected to the DocumentsCorePack Online Configuration. Please mark your service and click on the [View and Install License]-button.

5) The license information window appears. A red cross always signalizes that a license is invalid. There are numerous reasons for an invalid license.
In this example, the reason why is that the user owns less site licenses than he actually needs. To overcome this issue, the user has to upgrade the license.

B) How to upgrade a DCP Online license?

1) Please log in to your account on our website and open the Account Overview. Next, click on the [Modify package size]-button.

2) Now you are redirected to the UpgradeSubscription-section. Please click on the [Upgrade]-button in the right lower corner.

This year's eXtreme365 was really an eXtreme event. Open for partners and customers for the very first time in history, the event had more attendees than ever before. The atmosphere at eXtreme365 was perfect, which was not only due to the well selected 5-star location, but also to the excellent speakers and truly informative sessions.

There is no such town for an event like Lisbon - the picturesque, ever-changing and vibrant city reflects the spirit of Microsoft Dynamics 365 like no other.

Amazing keynote speakers, small group sessions, gripping speeches and lots of networking opportunities converted this event into a Microsoft Dynamics 365 festival.
It was really great to hear, that Microsoft will focus on AppSource, because since its launch, our add-ons are represented on AppSource. We know the platform as the
perfect market for our solutions.

Also, we had the chance to present our solutions and ideas in front of a responsive audience. Michael Dohr outlined excellently why working with partners it the key to success. He highlighted the values and benefits of our partner network, as well as the main advantages of our solutions for Microsoft Dynamics 365.

How to delete metadata in DocumentsCorePack

This article outlines how to delete metadata in DocumentsCorePack.

Please note: It is important to close the DCP dataprovider and all open MS Word instances before you proceed.

Step 1: Open the metadata save location
To do so, please open the Windows Explorer and look for %appdata%\DCP\metadata. In this folder you will find a directory with your CRM organizations' name.

Step 2: Delete the metadata
Please delete all the files in that folder.

Step 3: Restart MS Word and the DCP dataprovider

How to restart the DocumentsCorePack dataprovider

This article outlines how to restart the DocumentsCorePack dataprovider properly.

Please note: Before you restart the dataprovider, make sure that all MS Word instances, as well as the DCP dataprovider itself, are closed!

Step 1: Close the DocumentsCorePack dataprovider
To do so, simply right click on the DCP dataprovider itself. In the so opened overview, click on the [Close]-button.

Next, look for the DocumentsCorePack dataprovider in the start pane and click on it in order to restart the service.

Custom Result Fields in DropDown

This blog article outlines how to change the result and add additional fields to the drop down- menu in order to create user defined result fields.

Requirements: SmartBar 2013/2015/2016, an XML editor is recommended

Please note: There is no designer for the result fields. This is why the changes must be applied manually using an XML-file. For the creation of the XML-file, we recommend to use an XML editor.

XML definition

The XML consist of the main node dropdown, which supports the following two attributes:

width: Is used to define the width of the dropdown. To create a fixed width, simply define a number (in pixel). Using * sets the dropdown to be the same width as every other result field combined. If you do not define this attribute, the value of the Global SmartBar Configuration will be used.
height: Is used to define the maximum height of the dropdown. If you do not set this attribute, the value of the Global SmartBar Configuration will be applied.

On the next level below, the fields node is inserted. It’s just a container without further options. Under this level, there is an f node per result field.
The following attributes are supported:

name: the logical name of the CRM field, which will be used as result field.
width: the available width of this field. If you do not define this attribute, a standard width will be applied.

For every f a header-node can be subordinated. It serves as container in order to define the column heading.

For each CRM-language, an h tag can be added. Please define the language code using the id attribute. The content of this tag will display the according header.

Example
The following example dropdown has an automatic width.
The result values of the fields are defined in the below manner:
subject (Header: Subject), with the width of 150 pixel and the field createdon (Header: Erstellt am, or Created on) with the width of 100 pixel.

Sorting

There are a few possibilities to sort the results:

If a date field is defined at the first position, the entries will be sorted ascending.

Furthermore, you may define an order-field. Once defined, it will be used for the sorting.

How do I add an XML to a button?

Please open the SmartBar config, select a random button and click on the [Edit]-button. Next, paste the previously defined XML into the Dropdown XML–field, then click on the [Update]-button and save the config.

Alltogether, it was an extraordinary experience we wouldn’t want to miss!

How to configure unscheduled fetches in GroupCalendar

Since version 6.16 and higher of GroupCalendar for Microsoft Dynamics CRM, our add-on provides its users with the possibility to configure unscheduled activities in the GANTT view. This article outlines how to customize unscheduled activities properly.
Please note that basic knowledge of FetchXML is required if you want to configure these GroupCalendars’ settings. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our support via support@mscrm-addons.com.

Basic information

First of all, you have to access GroupCalendar. To do so, please enter your CRM and click on Workplace > GroupCalendar. At the right side, you are provided with a drop-down menu that displays all/my unscheduled service activities or all/my unscheduled appointments (depending on which tab you use). Please note: In this example, we use the Service Activities-tab only, but the information applies as well to the Appointments-tab.

Per default, users can select between

All unscheduled service activities and
My unscheduled service activities

But of course, there is a possibility to customize these settings. Users can – for example – add other users and/or user combinations to the default unscheduled service activities, for example:

User A unscheduled service activities
User B unscheduled service activities
User C and D unscheduled service activities

Besides, also the search attributes can be defined.
For example: You could define unscheduled service activities as all service activities, that are marked yellow or blue.
Please note: This setting is a global one. But you could as well specify user-specific settings. In this case, you would first have to create the

UnscheduledFetch_appointment_USERID

settingskey. For further information on how to create a settingskey, please click here. Once the settingskey has been created, you can proceed as below shown.

So while user A would receive all yellow service activities, user B would receive all blue service activities as a result in GroupCalendar.

How to customize unscheduled fetches

Please note that basic knowledge of FetchXML is required if you want to configure these GroupCalendars’ settings. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our support via support@mscrm-addons.com.

Anyway, to customize unscheduled fetches, navigate to Settings > MSCRM-ADDONS.com Products and open the products with a double click.

Now you are provided with an overview of all products installed. Please click on GroupCalendar in order to open the settings.

Next, look for Unscheduled Fetch* in the search-field. Thanks to the placeholder *, you do not have to search for the two solutions.

However, basically both Unscheduled Fetch entries must be customized. Figure 5 shows how such a customization could look like.

Your work starts when it comes to the FetchXML –file. Please find an explanation of the fetch below.

If you want to add a new filter, simply create a new configuration node with a corresponding name and FetchXML. Then, customize the so added fetch and save it.

How to start a service in DocumentsCorePack ServerBased (on premise)?

In order to run a workflow- or dialog-process, it is necessary to set up a new DocumentsCorePack (DCP) service to start the document generation process. This article outlines how to start a service in DocumentsCorePack ServerBased (DCP SB).

Step-by-step instructions on how to start a service in DocumetsCorePack ServerBased

1) Open the Service Management for DocumentsCorePack in the Windows Start menu with a double-click on Service Management – DocumentsCorePack for MS CRM.

2) Once opened, create a new service. To do so, click on New service setup. In the General-tab on the right side, insert a ServiceName and click on the [Verify]-button.
Please note: Once set, the ServiceName cannot be changed anymore! Click on the [Save service configuration]-button in order to proceed.

As soon as you have generated a ServiceName (see for example Figure 3: crmtest), a few more tabs to modify your newly created service appear. Depending on which service you would like to start, you can modify your service. Please find an example of how to modify a printing service here.

3) Now switch to the CRM Connection Setup-tab, select your CRM type, type in the CRM Server-URL and click on the [Retrieve all Organizations]-tab. Select the appropriate organization and click on the [OK]-button.

4) The following window appears. Click on the [OK]-button to confirm your setup.

Should the following box appear, simply click on the [OK]-button.

5) Finally, click on the [Start Service]-button. The service can now be found in the Active Services section of the DocumentsCorePack Service overview.

Should you be using Microsoft Dynamics 365 ONLINE and an on-premise installation of the addon (on-prem service), please add the following settingskey to the DocumentsCorePack and Automerge settings in CRM:

Name*: AzureServiceName
Is cached*: No
Value: none

Please also deactivate the LBConfig Setting, if you are not using LoadBalancing.

How to add custom fonts to MS Word templates

Most of the time, the regular Microsoft Word fonts are sufficient when it comes to the creation of new templates. However, sometimes it can be necessary to add a custom font. There are two possible ways to add a font in Microsoft Dynamics 365 ON PREMISE. For information on how to add a font in Microsoft Dynamics 365 ONLINE, please have a look at this article.

Option 1: Add custom fonts directly to the template (recommended)

To add custom fonts directly to the template, simply open a random DocumentsCorePack Word template and navigate to the file-tab. Once there, click on Options (to be found on the left side at the bottom).

This brings up the Word Options-dialog. Select the Save-tab and make sure, that the Embed fonts in the file-option at the very bottom of the dialog is checked (see Figure 1).

Click on the [OK]-button in order to save your changes.

Please note: The fonts are now saved in this template only. If you want the font(s) to be added to other templates too, you have to repeat the above steps with each template.

Option 2: Copy custom fonts to the server

To copy custom fonts to the server, you have to create a folder called Fonts and save your fonts there.

Make sure the folder is saved under the following path:
Installation path +\ folder Fonts

How to uninstall PowerSearch (Silverlight)

Since PowerSearch (Silverlight) 2015.102 is the last version of its kind, many users switch to the new version of PowerSearch. Though this does not require the deinstallation of PowerSearch (Silverlight), some users might wish to do so anyway.

However, it is very easy to uninstall PowerSearch (Silverlight), even if PowerSearch is already installed. Please follow this step-by-step tutorial to learn how it works.

Step 1: Open the solution overview

To uninstall PowerSearch (Silverlight) open the Settings in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, then click on Solutions.

This action opens the Solution Overview.

Step 2: Look for PowerSearch

Once you have entered the Solution Overview, look for *PowerSearch in the Search field on the top. As you can see in Figure 3, there are 6 solutions alltogether that contain the item PowerSearch.

3 of these solutions belong to PowerSearch Silverlight, while 3 belong to the later version of PowerSearch.

The solutions that belong to the new version of PowerSearch are very easy to recognize, because the word Plugin is always part of the solution.

So all you have to do now is to delete the solutions that DO NOT contain the word Plugin.

Step 3: Delete the PowerSearch (Silverlight) solutions

To do so, simply check one of the solutions, then click on the [Delete]-button.

Please note: You can only delete one solution after the other.
It is of upmost importance to delete the solutions in the following order:

1. PowerSearchConfig
2. PowerSearchCore
3. PowerSearchGlobalTab

With CRMUG European Congress 2016 in Stuttgart, the CRMUG congress took place on the European continent for the very first time.

When we arrived in Stuttgart we were really excited. To be frank, we did not know what to expect from the congress. Would it be a great event or an organizational desaster? Everything could have happened.

However, the event turned out to be amazing, full of great people and - because it was yet not as known as eg the long-established congresses - it reminded us of our beginnings. From the very first moment we knew that being a GoldSponsor for this event had been a great decision.

During the – nearly familiar atmosphere – we managed to talk to lots of great people, as for example Gustaf Westerlund. We also had the opportunity to listen to the outstanding sessions held by MVPs like Adam Vero & Scott Durow.

Also, we were so fascinated by the rise of this amazing event that we even forgot to take fotos . But we managed to make one of our booth before it was overrun by people:

Thank you for joining us at this year’s eXtremeCRM in Warsaw!

It was a pleasure for us to be part of such a great experience and to meet new business partners!

Ancient city meets high tech
We arrived early on Saturday in the marvelous city of Warsaw. That allowed us to do some sightseeing. The ancient city center provides beautiful sceneries,
the people are all totally friendly and the weather during our stay was great!

But of course, we hadn't gone so far to do some sightseeing. We had come here to go eXtreme!

Bootcamp & ISV session
Being a Silver Sponsor, we had the opportunity to offer a one day bootcamp for our partners and an ISV session.
Both focused on our products and on how to turn value into growth in Microsoft Dynamics CRM...

The highlight of eXtremeCRM in Warsaw was the keynote by Jujhar Singh. It is always amazing to follow his extraordinary speaker, but this time, he presented us with the future of Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

End Consumer & Partner Facing, Peer to Peer and Omni-channel support were only a few of the topics that were brought up. Singh gives the future connection between software, customers and partners a totally new dimension with three little keywords:
personalized, proactive and predictive.

Because automation of processes and workflows is exactly what we want to effect with our addons, we cannot wait to live the predicted future of MS Dynamics CRM.

The error message Solution AutoMergeGlobalButtonTmp Failed To Import

indicates, that the user who is running the current setup process has no rights to access the solution files.

Should you get this error message, you can assign Modify permissions for Everyone for the following folder as a workaround:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics CRM\CustomizationImport

Please ensure that this done on the server where the Async Service is running (normal CRM backendserver).

Thank you for joining us at this year’s US Industry Summit!

It was a pleasure for us to be part of such a great experience
and to meet new business partners!

We arrived early at Terranea Resort, the marvelous location
where US Industry Summit 2016 took place and were surprised
by the incredibly beautiful scenery.

But of course, we did not join US Industry Summit to enjoy the
picturesque landscape, but to meet (future) partners and to
present our valuable mscrm-addons.

Our booth – Nr. 17 – was perfectly placed…

... at least for the participants who happened to be hungry ;)

Believe it or not – in the course of the expo, this fact turned
out to be a huge advantage:
All the participants who wanted to eat something had to pass by our booth!

So we were able to provide information about our mscrm-addons
to everyone - making people happy with small delicacies at the same time.

But US Industry Summit 2016 did not only provide us with

- delicious food,
- stunning views,
- a fantastic balance of sessions and expo and

DocumentsCorePack FileExplorer in IFD environment

This article is about the DocumentsCorePack (DCP) FileExplorer in IFD environments for CRM 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2016.

Basically, DocumentsCorePack's FileExplorer is not supported in CRM IFD environments. Nevertheless, it could be possibly working. If you want to try to configure it, follow this article.

Limitations

The embedded File Explorer only works in Internet Explorer (does not work in any other browser and is not tested with MS Edge).
FileExplorer won’t work when accessing CRM from outside the local network.
When launching FileExplorer with the IE-Dev-Tool opened, you will notice a security warning regarding to mixed http and https.
There is no further development planned!
In combination with IFD, FileExplorer integration is not covered by the support contract.

Steps to configure

These steps have to be performed after the default installation of DocumentsCorePack Server part without any special configurations (do NOT run the IFD tool for DCP).

Change the connection type of the DCP profile to 0:
Open the registry of your CRM server > Local Machine > Software > PTM EDV-Systeme > AutoMergeServer > ActiveProfile

Look for the connection-profile with this ID in Profiles and set CrmConnectionType to 0.

Internet Information Services Settings
The DCP-Website must have an http-binding including a free port. To ensure that, open the IIS Manager and select the DocumentsCorePackserver-website and check the bindings. Remember the port: Its value will be required in the next steps.

As well in IIS Manager, ensure that the Managed pipeline mode of the DocumentsCorePackserverPool- Application Pool is set to Classic:

Navigate to CRM > Settings > MSCRM-ADDONS.com Products and open DocumentsCorePack. In the below grid, all settingskeys will be listed.
For DCP File Explorer only, follow A. If you also use DCP Server based (e.g. CRM workflows) to store documents to the FileShare, follow B.
1. Open the WebApplicationPort-setting and change its KeyValue to assigned port of the DCP Website.

  And Open “DCPServerUrl” and change its “KeyValue” to “http://+[CRM server URL]:

2. Open WebApplicationPort-setting and change its KeyValue to “http://+[CRM server URL + Port of website in IIS] +/fileexplorer/fileexplorer.aspx?testp=|”:

  Please note: The [OpenDocument]-button is NOT supported in this case!
Define Server-based user (only necessary if you use DCP ServerBased)
Go to CRM > Settings > Solutions > and open AutoMergeServerCore. Its ConfigPage will load. Use it to define a user which have enough permission to access the file share and CRM (in doubt, a local and CRM admin).

Permission: Give everyone full access on the file share and its sub folders (required).
Define a user which is a CRM admin and local admin in the DCP webconfig. To do so, open the DocumentsCorePack web.config-file of the installation directory (usually C:\Program Files\PTM EDV-Systeme GmbH\AutoMerge Server for MS CRM 2015\web.config) and modify the identity-node:

Make the website work within CRM: Open the InternetExplorer settings and allow mixed content.

Trouble Shooting

This error could appear when you open the website:

To resolve it, open the web.config of the installation directory of DCP Server part and remove both lines starting with Infragistics2. In addition, change the targetFramework of compilation to 4.0 (if not already done).

This error could appear when you try to save files to FileShare:

File is not saved to file share.

Activate debugging of DCP FileExplorer (see Solution 2: SERVER SOLUTION): link
If generating documents via DCP server based (e.g. from a CRM Workflow), activate server based debugging as well: link
You can find the log-files in the subfolder Log of the installation directory of DCP Server part.
