Default Sort Order for ActivityTools

When set up by default configuration, ActivityTools sorts activities in a specific order. This article outlines how this default order works.

Minimum requirement: ActivityTools for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2015

The default sort order follows the below rules:

First, it differentiates between two main categories: Activities and Emails.
Then, it searches the data fields and checks if a field has a value.
If a field has a value, this value serves as the base for the sort sequence.

Emails are sorted according to the following values:
[actualend]
[actualstart]
[modifiedon]

Activities are sorted according to the following values:
[scheduledstart]
[actualstart]
[actualend]
[modifiedon]

In the General Settings of ActivityTools, you can define 1 field that will be used for sorting.
Once set, the results will always be sorted after this particular field.

How to add and/or remove Standard Buttons in SmartBar

The customization of Standard SmartBar buttons is said to be one of the easiest things that you can do with our addons.

First of all, open the SmartBar settings. To do so, simply navigate to My SmartBar and click on the [Gear icon]–button.

The first tab (the so called Buttons-tab) is the one which enables you to add and/or remove standard buttons.

In the left column, you can see a list of all available buttons, while in the right column, you see the buttons that are currently installed.

To add a button (here: Users) ❶ to the SmartBar, simply click on it in the Available Buttons-section. Next, click on the arrow that points from left to right ❷.
The button will be visible on site as soon as you save the configuration ❸.

To delete SmartBar buttons, simply highlight a button in the Currently On Site-section.
Next, click on the arrow that points from right to left and the button will be deleted.

Please note: Standard buttons still exist in the list if you remove they are removed from the current site. In contrary to what happens to custom buttons: if you delete them, they will be deleted permanently. However, do not forget to save your configuration!

How to create custom translations for DocumentsCorePack ServerBased dialog

This blog article outlines how to create custom translations for DocumentsCorePack ServerBased (DCP SB) dialog. Per default English and the user language is available.

Requriements: DocumentsCorePack ServerBased for MS CRM 2013 (former AutoMerge), basic .xml knowledge and the AutoMergeGlobalButton Solution v2013.42 or higher

How to create the language for DocumentsCorePack ServerBased dialog?

Per default, English or the user language is set as standard language for DCP SB dialog.

1. In order to create a new language for DCP SB a new webresource must be added. Therefore go to (and open) the Customize the System-field in the CRM Settings.

2. In the following window, double-click on webresources in the tree view on the left and search for the unique name ptm_dcp_dialoglanguage.xml (display name DCP Dialog Loacalization).

Open the webresource with a double-click and access the the data with a click on the [Text Editor]-button.

Now the following window appears:

3. Next, copy the whole webresource content into e.g. Notepad++, duplicate a full translation node and insert the existing default one. (Per default, the languages English and German are set.)

4. Now please change the LCID code as well as the text to the required langauge. Click here to get an overview on the languages with an assigned Locale ID (LCID) e.g. 1040 for Italian.

Please note: Squared brackets and its content must not be changed!

5. Next, please add a new webresource. To do so, click on the [New]-button in the Web Resource-window.

In the New Web Resource-window add the required information by typing in:

- Name* new_New_Language_Italian
- Display Name LanguageItalian
- Type Data (XML)

Now click on the [Text Editor]-button. In the new window, please insert the full language xml.-file you have edited before. (Two default languages xml Englisch and German plus the newly added language - here: Italian)

Click on the [OK]-button in order to continue.

Next, click on the [SAVE]-button and on the [PUBLISH]-button in order to publish the newly web-resource.

Please save the unique name for further purposes. (here: new_New_Language_Italian) We will need it later.

6. Open CRM and create a new Settingskey for AutoMerge. To do so, please take a look at the following blog article: How to create a SettingsKey manually in MS Dynamics CRM 2013.

Please define the settingskey values as follows

Name* CustomLanguageFileWebResourceName
IsCached*: Yes
KeyValue: new_New_Language_Italian

Do not forget to save and close the settingskey, once it is created!

As a result, the newly added settingskey is visible in the product overview:

7. Now all you have to do is to activate the language for CRM use. To do so, navigate to CRM, navigate to Languages.

Check the checkbox in front of the newly added language. (here: Italian). Click on the [Apply]-button in order to continue.

Refresh the page and activate the required language (here: Italian) in the CRM options.

In the Personal Options-section, click on the Language-tab and select the language to be set as user interface language.

Click on the [OK]-button in order to finish your settings.

How to change the default pinned/unpinned status of the GroupCalendar side pane

The GroupCalendar side pane (which holds the view settings etc.) is per default unpinned. With a manual user-based setting it is possible to change the default behavior so that the GroupCalendar is opened with a pinned side pane.

To do so, please open the Advanced Find.

Select the entity MSCRM-ADDONS.com User/Temp Settings.

Then click on Results. From there, you have the option New MSCRM-ADDONS.com User/Temp Settings.

In this dialog, you can create a new user/temp setting. Please make sure that the NAME is OverviewPinned_[USERGUID].

[USERGUID] is the unique user ID of the CRM user for which you are configuring this setting. The GUID must entered without the brackets, i.e. OverviewPinned_0a19dcc6-b470-e011-b77f-00155dc8ae09

The VALUE could be either true (for pinned) or false (for unpinned).

Change Default settings for ActivityTool

ActivityTools default user settings can be predefined as follows:

Define the default settings for EmailPreview

Create a new settingskey called DefaultViewEmail as described here.

The Value should look similar to this :

"203;50;eListView;127;30000;30;false;350;300;0"

Explanation of values:

Value 203 (First option): 
A flag collection of email states to display: 

Draft = 1,            
Completed = 2,             
Sent = 4,             
Received = 8,             
Canceled = 16,             
PendingSend = 32,             
Sending = 64,             
Failed = 128

Calculate the sum of the states you want to display and change the 
value accordingly (e.g. 255 for all states)

Value 50 (Second option)
Items displayed per page, available values are 10, 25, 50, 100

Value eListView (Third option)
Selects the default view. 

Available options are :

eThreadedBySubject: Group by Subject
eThreadedByRegarding: Group By Regarding
eGroupByDate: Group By Date
eListView: ListView
eThreadedByRegardingNameAsc: Group By Regarding, Ascending by name
eThreadedByRegardingNameDesc: Group By Regarding, Decending by name
eThreadedBySubjectAsc: Group By Subject, Ascending by name
eThreadedBySubjectDesc: Group By Subject, Decending by name

First option:

Pipe seperated Value List of activtyentitytypecodes to display, see CRM Documentation
for details on the typecodes.

All other options are identical to emailPreview, except value 4,
which is ignoring all fields but subject and detail.

How to change language settings

Location of the Language Settings on the Client & Server

The name of the Language XML File is: .XML

For a list of two letter iso codes see http://www.worldatlas.com/aatlas/ctycodes.htm, Column A2

The language files are usually located in the sub folder localization of the products installation folder, typically under

C:\Program Files\PTM EDV Systeme GmbH\[ProductName] for MS CRM 4.0\Localization

or in the subfolder App_Data, similar to

C:\Program Files\PTM EDV Systeme GmbH\[ProductName] for MS CRM 4.0\App_Data\Localization

The language file for the english UI is for example en.xml

CLIENT ONLY: Each client can have its own language files.

1.5.1.2 Modifying the UI language

The user language is retrieved from CRMs UserSettings and compared to the available language files .

If a matching language file is found, the contents will be used to localize the application.

If no language file is found, the default language as defined during the setup is applied.

To change the default language change the registry setting Language.

To modify this setting, follow this procedure:

1. Press START – RUN

2. Type regedit and click on the [OK]-button

3. Locate the registry key

3a. CLIENT: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PTM EDV-Systeme\[ProductName]client

3b. SERVER: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PTM EDV-Systeme\[ProductName]server

4. Change the value of the language setting to another language

5. Close the registry editor

If the default language cannot be identified, the system switches to english.

In order to create another language file than the provided language files, you need to create a copy of the en.Xml language file and rename it to the desired two letter ISO language code setting.

For example, to create a Dutch language file, copy en.xml, rename the copied file to nl.xml and then translate the strings in the file.

Afterwards, restart the client or close all your Internet Explorer windows and the new language will be applied automatically (as defined in your CRM user settings).
