Open/Save Template Error while creating a label template

If you receive the following error when creating a label template in DCP for CRM 2013, your DCP Server Component is very likely not up to date.

Post-upgrade Steps for GroupCalendar Online

This article outlines the upgrade steps for GroupCalendar Online for MS CRM 2015. Please note: It only applies to GroupCalendar online!

Requirements: GroupCalendar (GC) Online for MS CRM 2015

After the upgrade of GroupCalendar to CRM 2015, it is highly recommended to perform the following steps to ensure full compatibility.

  1. Please download the following CRM Solutions 
  2. To install the solutions, please open your CRM and navigate to Settings > Solutions.

  3. In the All Solutions section, click on the [Import]-button in order to proceed and import them into your CRM system.

  4. Follow the steps in the wizard to import the solutions. Please note: It is very important to upload the solutions in the order displayed in step 1. 
  5. After all solutions have been updated, please clear your Browser Cache and the Cookies. To do this, hit [CTRL]+[SHIFT]+[DEL] (works in every browser) and select the option that the Cache and Cookies should be deleted.

How to create custom translations for DocumentsCorePack ServerBased dialog

This blog article outlines how to create custom translations for DocumentsCorePack ServerBased (DCP SB) dialog. Per default English and the user language is available.

Requriements: DocumentsCorePack ServerBased for MS CRM 2013 (former AutoMerge), basic .xml knowledge and the AutoMergeGlobalButton Solution v2013.42 or higher 

How to create the language for DocumentsCorePack ServerBased dialog?

Per default, English or the user language is set as standard language for DCP SB dialog. 

1. In order to create a new language for DCP SB a new webresource must be added. Therefore go to (and open) the Customize the System-field in the CRM Settings

2. In the following window, double-click on webresources in the tree view on the left and search for the unique name ptm_dcp_dialoglanguage.xml (display name DCP Dialog Loacalization).

Open the webresource with a double-click and access the the data with a click on the [Text Editor]-button.

Now the following window appears:

3. Next, copy the whole webresource content into e.g. Notepad++, duplicate a full translation node and insert the existing default one. (Per default, the languages English and German are set.)

4. Now please change the LCID code as well as the text to the required langauge. Click here to get an overview on the languages with an assigned Locale ID (LCID) e.g. 1040 for Italian

Please note: Squared brackets and its content must not be changed!

Next, please add a new webresource. To do so, click on the [New]-button in the Web Resource-window.

In the New Web Resource-window add the required information by typing in:

- Name* new_New_Language_Italian 
- Display Name LanguageItalian 
- Type Data (XML)

Now click on the [Text Editor]-button. In the new window, please insert the full language xml.-file you have edited before. (Two default languages xml Englisch and German plus the newly added language - here: Italian

Click on the [OK]-button in order to continue. 

Next, click on the [SAVE]-button and on the [PUBLISH]-button in order to publish the newly web-resource.

Please save the unique name for further purposes. (here: new_New_Language_Italian) We will need it later. 

6. Open CRM and create a new Settingskey for AutoMerge. To do so, please take a look at the following blog article: How to create a SettingsKey manually in MS Dynamics CRM 2013. 

Please define the settingskey values as follows

Name* CustomLanguageFileWebResourceName
IsCached*: Yes
KeyValue: new_New_Language_Italian

Do not forget to save and close the settingskey, once it is created! 

As a result, the newly added settingskey is visible in the product overview:

7. Now all you have to do is to activate the language for CRM use. To do so, navigate to  CRM, navigate to Languages

Check the checkbox in front of the newly added language. (here: Italian). Click on the [Apply]-button in order to continue.

Refresh the page and activate the required language (here: Italian) in the CRM options.

In the Personal Options-section, click on the Language-tab and select the language to be set as user interface language.

Click on the [OK]-button in order to finish your settings.

How to enable debugging for DocumentsCorePack Server Based (Online)

Please note: This article applies to

DocumentsCorePackServerBased Document Generation & Processing
for MS CRM 2013, 2015, MS CRM 2015/2016 and MS Dynamics 365 
and AttachmentExtractor for MS Dynamics 365

For demonstrating purposes, this article shows DCP only, but the same steps could as well be executed 
for AttachmentExtractor for MS Dynamics 365.

Step-by-Step instruction on
how to activate debugging for DocumentsCorePack ServerBased Online

1. Log in to our website www.mscrm-addons.com/Login

2. Select the mscrm-addon you would like to debug. (here: DocumentsCorePack)

3. Click on the [Configure Service]-button on the so opened product page.

4. Next, the Online Configuration window appears. You will be asked to select a product (DocumentsCorePack or AttachmentExtractor). We have selected DocumentsCorePack.

5. Please double-click on the service you would like to debug.

6. In the so opened window, click on the [Show Advanced Options]-button.

7. Here, you have the possibility to enable debugging by activating the Enable Debugging-checkbox. Do not forget to save your changes with a click on the [Save Service]-button.

8. Now the following window appears. Please note: Do not close this window or navigate away! (Click on the [OK]-button in order to continue).

9. While your service is updating, the following window appears. As soon as this is done, the Service Configuration of the selected service appears.

10. Now please reproduce the error!

11. When you are ready, select your service with a double-click again and open the [Show Advanced-Options]-button as shown above.

12. Now all you have to do is click on the [Download Logs]-button.

How to set partial document editing restriction in templates

This blog article outlines how to use the MS Word Restrict Editing-functionality. It supports restricted editing for the whole document, as well as editing specific paragraphs of the document only. Please note: The functionality works with merged documents as well.

You can find the [Restrict Editing]-button in the Review-tab in Word.

Once you have clicked on the button, an interface will open up to work with document restrictions. You can set the whole document to Read Only and select areas that will be excepted from the restriction (which will be editable for other users). You can also select which users are allowed to edit these areas.
As soon as you have decided which settings fit best, click on the [Yes, Start Enforcing Protection]-button.

Now the Protection Method-dialog opens. You can select to protect the document either with a Password or by user authentication

How to add GroupCalendar to a specific ribbon location?

This blog article explains how to add GroupCalendar to a specific ribbon location with XRM Tools.

Requirements: GroupCalendar for MS CRM

Please note: Make sure that you run the XRM Tools as administrator!

1) Connect with your CRM-system.

2) Select the SiteMap Editor

3) Now, click on the [Load Sitemap]-button in order to load your current CRM Sitemap.

4) In the next window, select the location where you want to store GroupCalendar in your CRM ribbon.

5) Next, select the ptm-WebApplicationPreloaderGroupCalendar webresource.

Once selected, please add the titles shown in figure 6, 7 and 8.

6) Now all you have to do is to click on the [SiteMap]-button and to refresh your Browser in order to see the changes in CRM.

How to install GroupCalendar for MS CRM Online

This blog article outlines how to install GroupCalendar for MS CRM Online. 

Requirements: GroupCalendar for MS CRM Online

If you have purchased GroupCalendar, please follow the instructions below. Please note: after everything is set up and running DO NOT disable the user!

​How to install GroupCalendar via AppSource

1) To open AppSource, navigate to https://appsource.microsoft.com/en-us/.

2) Please look for GroupCalendar in the Search field and click on the [Try]-button in the Group Calendar result box.

3) Agree to the Group Calendars terms and conditions and click on the [Continue]-button.

4)  ​You will be asked to sign in to Microsoft AppSource.

5) Once logged in, please add the application by agreeing to the terms and conditions and clicking on the
[I Agree]-button if you want to proceed.

You are redirected to the CRM Online Administration panel. Here, you get an overview of all your installations.

Please note: Because the CRM Online Administration panel does not refresh itself automatically, you have to refresh the window from time to time. 

However, as soon as GroupCalendar installed, its status will be changed to Installed (see figure 7).

Now open CRM Online and click on Workplace > MyWork > GroupCalendar. The so opened window provides you with the information required to activate GroupCalendar.

Please follow the steps displayed in Figure 10 (Open the CRM Settings > MSCRM-ADDONS > GroupCalendar). 
You are then provided with the GroupCalendar Getting Started surface. Please scroll down to the GroupCalendar Trial Request
section and enter your credentials there.

As soon as you have finished, click on the [Register]-button and you will receive your 30-days trial version. 

Additionally, you could also change the CRM access role in the office 365 portal. (this is optional). 
To do so, simply click on roles and change the settings.

If you have decided to change the roles, you must also change the user settings as shown in figure 11.

Please note: Make sure that the user possesses the following roles: 
- mscrm-addons general security role
- MSCRMAddonsAzureService
- MSCRM-ADDONS.com GCAutoUpdate

Please open the GroupCalendar Service User (Settings > Administration > Users) and set the MSCRMAddons service user to non-interactive access mode (to do so, please follow this blog article). 
If the user is still counted by CRM dynamics licensing after being set to non-interactive, simply remove the CRM license from this user in the Office 365 Portal.

Now once again, open GroupCalendar in CRM (Workplace > My Work) and verify that everything works fine.

Printer Configuration for DocumentsCorePack Server Based Online

This blog article explains how to configure a printer service for DocumentsCorePack Server Based (DCP SB) Online on www.mscrm-addons.com.  

Requirements: DocumentsCorePack Server Based Document Generation (former AutoMerge)

HOW TO: configure a printer service for DCP SB Online

Please note: If you have already installed DocumentsCorePack Server Based locally, please stop or uninstall the programm in order to use the DCP SB Online Service appropriately and to configure the print job.    

Once a service for DCP SB Online is set up, users can configure Google Cloud Print to print the generated documents.

First of all, make sure that you have configured your Google Cloud Printers in the  Google PortalAs soon as you have created your CRM Connection profile, you can create your Google Cloud Print DocumentsCorePack Server Based Configurations to print the generated documents.

Before you can use this feature, you must add and configure printers to your Google Account. You can connect as many printers as you wish to your account. Please find some general information about Google Printing here:

Google Cloud Print Overview

1) Add your printer to your Google account.

2) Start with the configuration, as soon as the printer has been added. Type in your credentials and click on the [Get available printers]-button.

Next, the Google Cloud Printer Configuration opens. Within this window, the printer settings can be defined.
Print a test page to verify that your settings are correct.

If your test print was successful, the following window appears.

If no test page is printed out, please open your Google Cloud Print account, go to Print Jobs and check the print status.

Certificate Changes in an IFD environment

This blog article explains what to do if one of the certificates has changed in the IFD environment. If so, our products require additional steps in order to work again.
 

This issue can occur with two different certificates:
   
1) SSL certificate
2) Token Signing certificate

 

1) How to react in case of the SSL certificate 

First of all, you need to rerun the IFD-wizard and select the correct certificates (since in the web.config your old certificates are still cached).

Next, please update the Relying Party Trust with the new Federation Meta Data URL which has been created in the IFD Wizard previously.

If this does not work correctly, you will need to delete and recreate the relying party trust for our product on the ADFS Server.

Then, specify the Federation Metadata URL, which was created by the IFD Wizard and click on the [Next]-button.

Next, please specify a display name and click on the [Next]-button.

Then check the Permit all users to access this relying party-option and click on the [Next]-button.

Please check if everything looks alright and then click on the [Next]-button.

After you have finished working with the Add Relying Party Trust-Wizard, the Rules Editor appears.
There, click on the [Add Rule]-button.

Should the Editor not open automatically, please right-click the relying party object you have created before in the Relying Party Trust list, click on the [Edit Claims Rules]-button and then click on the [Add Rule]-button.

Please note: It is of upmost importance that the Issuance Transform Rules-tab is selected. In the Claim rule template list, select Pass Through or Filter an Incoming Claim template and then click on the [Next]-button.

Create the following rule:

  • Claim rule name: Pass Through UPN (or something descriptive)
  • Add the following mapping:

1. Incoming claim type: UPN

2. Pass through all claim values

Click on the [Finish]-button. 

In the Rules Editor, click on the [Add Rule]-button and in the Claim rule template list, click on Pass Through or Filter an Incoming Claim Template. Click on the [Next]-button in order to proceed.

  • Claim rule name: Pass Through Primary SID (or something descriptive)
  • Add the following mapping:

1. Incoming claim type: Primary SID

2. Pass through all claim values

Click on the [Finish]-button.

In the Rules Editor, click on the [Add Rule]-button. 

In the Claim rule template list, select Transform an Incoming Claim Template and then click on the [Next]-button in order to continue.

Now create the following rule:

  • Claim rule name: Transform Windows Account Name to Name (or something descriptive)
  • Add the following mapping:

1. Incoming claim type: Windows account name

2. Outgoing claim type: Name

3. Pass through all claim values

Click on the [Finish]-button and as soon as you have created all three rules, click on the [OK]-button in order to close the Rules Editor.

 

2) How to react in case of the Token Signing certificate

Please replace the old thumbprint of the Token Signing Certificate in the web.config with the thumbprint from your new Token Signing Certificate. As soon as you have replaced it, click on the [OK]-button in order to proceed.  
Please note: Do not copy the thumbprint from here, type it of instead (there are hidden characters inside this string-value which can not be deleted).
